Hayley Slipover Knitting Pattern
Are you looking for a real wardrobe staple? This knit has all over cables which require care and attention, but it will pay itself off with a stunning textured and detailed garment that will last a lifetime. Knitted from the top down starting with the back piece which features short row shaping, followed by each of the front pieces before front and back are joined in the round to work the body. A folded hem completes the neckline.
Sizes: A (B, C, D, E) (F, G, H, I)
30” (34”, 38”, 42”, 46”) (50”, 54”, 58”, 62”) / 76cm (86cm, 96cm, 106cm, 116cm) (127cm, 137cm, 147cm, 157cm)
Choosing your size and fit: The stated measurements are for the actual garment, choose a size with your desired ease, at least 2”/5 cm positive ease is recommended.
Sample information: Tweed sample is knitted in BC Garn Hamilton Tweed (100m/50g) in the colourway ‘natural’, size B worn on a 32” / 81 cm bust with 2” / 5 cm positive ease. Beige sample knitted in Rauwerk DK (220m/100g), in the colourway ‘sand’, size C worn on a 34” / 86 cm bust with 4” / 10 cm positive ease.
Yarn: DK weight wool or wool blends held single. Samples knitted in Rauwerk DK (220m/100g) and BC Garn Hamelton Tweed (100m/50g).
Note: The Rauwerk is a woollen spun yarn which comes out thick for a DK. Make sure to swatch carefully, you may need to change the needle size or use a heavier aran weight yarn. Any yarn that meets the gauge may be used.
Yardage:
220 (250, 280, 310, 340) (370, 400, 420, 450) grams
484 (550, 616, 682, 748) (814, 880, 924, 990) metres
Note: These yardages are for the shorter length, you will need approx. 20% more yarn for the longer option.
Needles: 4 mm & 4.5 mm circular needles and/or DPNs. Needle sizes are recommended, choose a size needed to achieve gauge, the smaller needle should be 0.5 mm smaller than the larger needle.
Gauge: 18 stitches & 24 rows per 4” / 10 cm in cable pattern on larger needles after blocking. If you find that your flat and in the round gauge differ a lot, check both a flat and in the round gauge swatch.
Notions: 2 spare cables or waste yarn to hold the back and shoulders, at least one removable stitch marker.
